I’ve been thinking about a simple statement lately: When I know my “why,” my “what” becomes more...
Robert Alicea

Robert Alicea is a Marine Corps veteran from Holland, Michigan, who serves as the Ministry & Events Coordinator for Warriors Set Free, a ministry dedicated to walking alongside active-duty military, veterans, first responders, and their families as they grow in their faith, find healing from the past, and learn to win life’s battles.
But for Robert, this ministry is much more than a job.
After experiencing trauma growing up, compounded by his time in the United States Marine Corps and the years that followed, Robert learned how to shut people out. He built walls around himself that he believed would keep him safe. For years, those walls seemed easier than allowing anyone to see what was really going on inside.
That began to change when Robert attended a men’s encounter and came to know God personally as Papa. It was there that he began to understand something that would change the direction of his life: his past did not define his identity. He was a son of the Most High God.
Today, Robert no longer carries shame about his story. In fact, he willingly shares his testimony because he knows other men and women are still hiding behind walls of their own. Whether through writing, speaking, ministry, or simply sitting across the table from someone who needs to be heard, Robert has a heart for walking alongside those who have fought for us and those who are still fighting for us.
He is an avid writer who loves sharing what Papa is teaching him through Scripture and everyday life. More than titles or positions, Robert wants to use the time, talents, and resources God has given him to point people toward Jesus and remind them that they don’t have to fight their battles alone.
When he isn’t serving, Robert loves to cook and truly treasures time with both of the families Papa has given him: his family by blood and the spiritual family he has gained along the way.
